It is not just geographically that The Royal Oak pub, Kirby Muxloe stands in the heart of the village. Its location right in the centre of the village makes it a natural community hub, but it is the welcoming atmosphere and the commitment by the publican, Sarah, to truly serve the community that ensures it thoroughly deserves the accolade of community pub. My change of career and the ability to visit during the day showed me first hand the succession of groups both formal and informal that use the pub for their regular meet ups. When I was searching for a venue for the Kirby Muxloe Death Cafe, (What is a Death Cafe) it was The Royal Oak which came up trumps, accommodating us each time and even relocating other events to ensure the Death Cafe can run smoothly. I am most grateful for their support.

Whether you are looking for somewhere to hold a wedding ceremony, reception,

memorial service, naming ceremony or a party, The Royal Oak can provide everything you need from catering to flowers and from DJs to balloon decorations, cakes and more. There is a dedicated function room, The Acorn Suite, that can comfortably accommodate up to 100 guests for a sit down meal but can also be made more intimate for a smaller number. The internal bar is offered for your exclusive use and the substantial attached car park is a welcome feature. For the summer months the newly redesigned garden, complete with wooden gazebo provides the perfect outdoor setting for a ceremony and / or wedding breakfast for approximately 60 guests. If that isn’t enough, it’s also possible to hold your wedding in a marquee which is suitable for 90 people.
In terms of catering, anything is possible from a three course, sit down gourmet meal to a light buffet or a hearty BBQ. As a village pub with an outstanding reputation for its food, which is all locally sourced, it’s no surprise that the demands of different dietary requirements are fully understood and can be accommodated easily.

In terms of ceremonies The Royal Oak lends itself perfectly to celebrant-led events whether that’s a wedding, naming, funeral or something else. (For more information on what a celebrant can offer see my blog.) Flowers from the village florist, A.A.Moore, have been adorning village occasions since 1985 and today, it is the founder’s grand-daughter Amy who will mastermind your floral decoration, whatever the occasion.
If you’re looking for a village wedding venue, where every aspect of your day is rooted in the community, I urge you to consider The Royal Oak. Sarah and her team stop at nothing to ensure that every aspect of your day is perfect. Years of experience has enabled Sarah to acquire a list of trusted vendors; she can put you in touch with everyone you need. These close personal and community links mean these are, without doubt, the best value for money it’s possible to find. There are no set packages at The Royal Oak; each event is created individually ensuring it is personal and bespoke although taster menus can be arranged to help decide between the various delicious options.
As an Independent Celebrant I seek to serve my community and am proud to do so in partnership with my community pub and am grateful for the support of Sarah and the Royal Oak team.
